As Host you can chose from Rockstar Created, Verified, recently played or any you may have bookmarked.
Joining is the same as choosing a Quick Job from your phone where you can choose from Deathmatch, Last Team Standing, Mission etc, and you'll play a game that's been picked by another player. This is great for stacking a bunch of fun Jobs to play with friends and those that you know to hand out decent amounts of cash and RP.
In the Jobs menu you can also bookmark favourite Jobs and Playlists.There are Rockstar Playlists and Verified Playlists that have been put together by other players and approved by the developers. Some Playlists are varied, taking in a range of individual Jobs, or you can choose a Playlist with 16 races if that's your thing. This minimises the amount of time waiting in lobbies but there's also usually a theme around a particular Playlist. Playlists are groups of jobs put together that you play in a specific order. From the pause menu go to Online and then choose between Jobs or Playlists.You're able to select individual Jobs within a job type, meaning you can go back to some of your favourite races, try a job that's only just opened up due to your boost in Rank, or pull up a Deathmatch you haven't yet played. This option gives you much more choice over the specific job you want to play. Start a Job from the pause menu in GTA Online Starting other actions in GTA Online such as a Gang Attack will cancel the On Call mode. As soon as it's ready you'll be pulled into the job. You'll see a little timer in the bottom right corner and a count of the number of players being added to the job. On Call lets you continue playing GTA Online until a game starts. Alone will take you straight to a lobby and there's a random chance you'll be the host of the session. Here you can chose Random (where you'll be sucked into the next available game) or you can specify a Job type Race, Deathmatch, Mission etc.Pull up your phone by tapping up on the d-pad.
